be decent

Do not harass anyone, post links or contact details, impersonate anyone, or use the site to distribute anything illegal. Automated filtering blocks some of this; the rest relies on people reporting it. Accounts that break this can be removed without notice.

house hamsters

Some hamsters in the room are not people. They are labelled as house hamsters in the room itself, they say so when you hover them, and they are never included in the live count of people present.

your hamster

Progress is tied to a token in your browser. Clear it, or lose the device, and the hamster is gone — there is no recovery, because there is no account to recover.

seeds, treats and the shelf

Seeds and treats are points in a toy. Neither can be bought, sold, cashed out, transferred out or exchanged for anything outside this site, neither is a currency or any kind of asset, and both can be reset or rebalanced at any time as the game is tuned. The same goes for trinkets, prizes, shelf slots, wardrobe items and every other thing you earn here. None of it has monetary value.

the midway

The stalls in the midway are games of chance. A go costs seeds and pays treats, and treats buy prizes at the counter and nothing else — treats can never become seeds again, and neither can ever become money. There is no way to buy seeds or treats, and there never will be. Nothing you stake has real value and nothing you win does either, so nothing here can be won or lost in any sense that matters outside the room. If you would rather not see games of chance at all, simply do not go to the midway; nothing anywhere else in the room depends on it.

the wall

A line you pin to the wall is public and stays after you leave, with your hamster's name on it, and the newest one is shown on the front page. Do not write anything you would not want a stranger reading tomorrow. Lines go through the same filter as chat and can be removed without notice.

clips

The CLIP button records the last ten seconds of the room to a file on your device. You may post what you record. Remember the room is shared: other people's hamsters, names and chat can end up in your clip, so do not record and publish something to single anybody out or harass them.

The site is provided as is, with no warranty. It may go down, lose data, change, or stop existing. Do not rely on it for anything that matters.

chat

Messages are public within a room. Do not post anything you would not want a stranger to read. Reported messages are retained so they can be reviewed.
